A 6’0” post, Wendy Sears arrived in the Capital City from Great Falls, where she shined on the hardcourt for CMR’s 1977 undefeated State champions. At Carroll, Wendy was a 4-year hoops starter and 2-time first team All-Frontier Conference, while becoming the first woman to score 1000 points. She led the Lady Saints in scoring three times, with averages of 15.6, 15.8 and 10.8 points, and in rebounding twice, averaging 9.9 and 6.5 boards. After helping CC to the Conference title as a freshman, she achieved 10 double-doubles in 1981, highlighted by a 32 point (school record)/12 rebound performance against Montana Tech.
She also posted 22 counters/19 boards vs. Western, and 20/14 in the Northern contest. For her career, Sears netted 20-plus points in 13 games, while leading the club in scoring 39 times. She graduated with at least 10 program records, spotlighted by game points; season average and points (441); and career points (1287) and rebounds (731).  Her lifetime scoring record, established before the 3-point line, lasted until 1996.  Among her other Lady Saints’ marks were game free throw accuracy (100%, 8-for-8), season FTs (87) and career FTs (213); and season boards (237). Sears ranked in the top-6 in assists, as well.
