Lori Lorion arrived on Carroll’s campus from Broadwater Heights, Ohio, in the fall of 1975, with just one season of high school basketball under her belt. But the 5’9” freshman not only made the team, she proceeded to start at forward all four seasons for the Lady Saints. Lorion’s all-around skills and competitive leadership were an instrumental building block in the foundation of women’s basketball at CC, and she left the Hilltop with at least seven school records and numerous “firsts”.

She was among the team’s scoring (No. 1 as co-captain her final two years), rebounding and assist leaders, with season highs of 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, per game. Her Lady Saints records included: career – 873 points, 11.1 ppg, 506 boards; and season – 304 points, 14.5 ppg, 50% FG accuracy. Lorion finished with seven 20-point games, with a high of 24, and a game-high 19 boards. As a senior, she became the program’s first 2-time All-Frontier Conference selectee (1978 second team, 1979 first team), and in 1985 Lori Lorion was the first woman inducted into Carroll’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
