Butte Central product Bill Albright – a 3-year starting guard for the Hilltop hoopsters and 2-year starter with the football team – was an MVP in both sports. A relentless defender and consistent scorer on the hardcourt, he poured in a career-high of 28 points vs. Butte Mines. His senior year, the league runner-up Saints qualified for District 5 Regionals. In a narrow 92-86 loss to College of Idaho, the 6’1” Albright fired in 26 counters. Averaging 12.2 ppg, he earned first team All-Conference and the team’s 1965 Most Valuable Player.

In 1963, he garnered the same award as a junior gridder with the Saints. A triple-threat halfback, he led the squad with averages of 5.7-yards rushing and 29 yards per catch, and a combined total 599 yards (rushing, passing, receiving). Among his highlights was a 62-yard fumble recovery to The House. He was also a Carroll Smoker boxing champ. CC cage coach Presley Askew commented, “Players like Bill Albright make coaching easy and rewarding.”
