A versatile 5’8”forward from Great Falls High, Mary Burton garnered three All-Frontier selections for the Lady Saints hoopsters – honorable mention as a sophomore, first team the next two years – while finishing as the Hilltop’s all-time leading scorer with 1415 points and nine other school records. She was 3-time Northern MT “Tip Off” All-Tournament, twice Tech’s Big Sky Holiday Classic All-Tourney (1987 MVP) and the first Lady Saint cager to earn two All-District selections.

Mary led the team in assists all four years (CC record 132 in 1986) and in scoring her final two seasons, at 13.3 and 13.7 points per game. She was also among the leaders in rebounds, assists and steals each year. Over her career, Burton led the team in scoring 33 times, netted 20-plus points on 12 occasions, and posted eight double-double efforts. 

Included in her career highlights were a rare triple double vs. Western (22 points-10 rebounds-10 assists), and 26 points and 15 rebounds against Tech (separate games). During a win over the Lady Orediggers, she posted 13 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 7 steals. Among her other notable Lady Saints records were lifetime marks for assists (400), steals (238), field goals (496) and games played (118). Mary capped off her Hilltop career as co-recipient of the Cathy Wallace award.
