Saints Athletic Hall of Fame
The 1973 Carroll Football team, under the direction of Bob Petrino, compiled an undefeated regular season record of 7-0. On the way to an unbeaten season and the Frontier Championship, Carroll ran its win streak to 10 straight games (dating back to the previous season), breaking the 41-year-old record for consecutive wins. The Saints were ranked as high as seventh in the polls, but were not invited to the NAIA playoffs. Nine CC gridders earned first-team all-conference selections, including Randy Triplett, Dan Rambo, Armando Barragan, Walt Chancy, Rich McElmurry, Ed Robinson, Dick Canty, Jim Kelly and Bob Applegate. Petrino was voted Frontier Coach of the Year, while Triplett and Rambo earned 1973 honorable mention Little All-American citations.
