Guido Bugni, a member of three Montana College Conference championships with the Saints (1953-54, 1956), was selected an All-MCC lineman and All-American his final season. Out-weighed by as much as 30-40 pounds on every play until his senior year – and then by “only” 15-20 lbs. – what he lacked in size he made up for in quickness, strength, execution and determination. As a hard-charging 145-pound high school running back, Bugni helped Butte Central to the 1952 Class A grid championship. On the Hilltop he was moved to guard and lettered his freshman year.

As a sophomore, Bugni cracked the starting lineup and helped the Ray Hunthhausen-coached Saints to an undefeated Conference title. CC finished runner-up the next year, but bounced back with another unbeaten MCC crown in 1956. Bugni, at 5’9” and 180 pounds, booted several PATs, in addition to his stellar play both ways on the line.  His last three years (2½ as a starter), the Saints went 11-1 in Conference play, while outscoring their opposition by an average of 30-6. The icing on the cake came with his selection to the 1956 National All-Catholic All-American team. Guido was an assistan coach for the 1957 Conference title, before serving as a chemistry professor on the Hilltop from 1959-2000.
