As the team’s top scorer and rebounder, he led the Saints to an 18-5 record in 1962, when he averaged 16.4 points and 16.2 rebounds (19th in the nation) per game. Carroll won the Anaconda Holiday Tournament title that year for the only time in their history and placed third in the MCC, and were loop runners-up in 1963.

Darcy left the school as the Saints’ all-time scoring leader, with 1239 points. Over his career, he achieved 12 games with 25-or more points, and three over 30, with a high of 36 counters versus Northern Montana. Bill poured in 31 points in a narrow 79-75 loss to Gonzaga. He was a 3-time NAIA All-American honorable mention, while being chosen Conference MVP those same years, from 1962-64. As a sophomore, Darcy was selected 1962 second team Catholic All-American, and made honorable mention the next season.
