HELENA, Mont. – The No. 4 Carroll College men got off to a sluggish start against Salish Kootenai, but found a rhythm and cruised to a 116-57 win Friday evening at the PE Center in Helena.
Ryan Imhoff was one rebound away from a triple-double, and six Saints scored in double figures led by
Match Burnham with 20 points.
The Saints pulled out to a 7-2 lead to start the game, but the Bison battled back to take a 13-11 advantage on a bucket from Aquino Brinson with 14:06 to play in the first half.
Carroll answered with a three-pointer from
Ife Kalejaiye to spark a 10-0 run and never trailed again. The Saints took a 52-27 lead into the break and outscored the Bison 64-30 in the second half to cruise to the 59-point victory.
Carroll was 50-82 (61 percent) from the field, including 9-20 (45 percent) from the three-point line.
The Saints had 34 assists on 50 made shots, including 10 by Imhoff. Imhoff also had a game-high nine rebounds to lead Carroll to a 39-33 advantage on the boards.
Burnham's 20 led the way, and
Matt Wyman added 18, Imhoff 17,
Oliver Carr 15,
Kyle Nickol 14 and Kalejaiye 10.
Brinson led SKC with 17 points, and Mike Leslie added 10. The Bison were 21-55 (38.2 percent) from the field and 5-21 (23.8 percent) from the three-point line.
The Saints forced Salish Kootenai into 28 turnovers with 18 steals while only losing the ball seven times.
Carroll is now off for 11 days until they face Bethesda University in a neutral site match in Costa Mesa, Calif., on Dec. 19.
