Biography
In 2016-17, Kyle Nickol, while continuing to perform as a standout track athlete at Carroll, made some huge plays, including hitting some big shots, for Carroll Hoops, which won the Frontier reg. season and tourney championships and made it to the school's second straight NAIA Elite Eight. He shot 55% from the three-point line and turned in a nearly 2-to-1 asisst-to-turnover ratio. He continues to thrive in the classroom as a Health Sciences major.
In 2015-16, while continuing to perform as a standout track athlete at Carroll, Kyle Nickol, as a red-shirt freshman, made some big plays for Carroll's NAIA Elite Eight qualifying team. He shot 55% from the three-point line and turned in a nearly 2-to-1 asisst-to-turnover ratio.
Helena native and decorated HS and college athlete, Kyle Nickol red-shirted for Saints' hoops in 2014-15. During his red-shirt year, he starred on Carroll's nationally-ranked track team & turned in great marks in the classroom as a Health Sciences major.
In high school, Nickol started on the Helena Capital Bruins’ State AA Championship Team averaged 11.3 points per game and connected on a school-record 50 three-point field goals in helping lead Capital High School to a 22-1 record en route to the school’s first championship since 1983. Nickol was selected honorable mention All-Conference and was a member of the state All-Tournament team after averaging 10.7 points and knocking down eight threes in the tournament, including key makes against Missoula Hellgate in the state title game.
During his career at Capital, Nickol has lettered in a remarkable four sports: soccer, football, basketball and track and field. Last season, Nickol was selected All-Conference in soccer, All-State in football as a kicker and All-State in track.
In addition to his decorated athletic career, Nickol is a valedictorian at Capital High, completing his academic career with a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.
Coach's Comments: "Kyle can really shoot the ball and he's so fast, when I called to ask him to run his scholarship documents over to the office, he literally did--and the ink wasn't even dry when he arrived. In all seriousness, it's fantastic to have a student-athlete of this caliber at Carroll College."
