CORVALLIS, Ore. – After an undefeated opening to the 2023 CCC season, the Carroll College Women's Soccer team was named the Under Armour Team of the Week for Sept. 18 – 24, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
Carroll (6-0-1, 3-0 CCC) began its year ranked 7 th in the CCC Preseason Poll but has quickly displayed its dominance. The Fighting Saints are currently undefeated, holding one draw against NCAA Dll, Montana State University Billings, during preseason. After managing two
more wins this week, Carroll is tied at the top of the CCC standings with No. 17-ranked College of Idaho.
The first victory this week was over Multnomah (Ore.) on Thursday with a final score of 1-0. Carroll played nearly exclusively in Multnomah's field in the second half and ended the game out-shooting the Lions 21-2.
Delaney Moczan's (Las Vegas, Nev. / FR) first goal of the year, with just minutes remaining, lifted Carroll to the win.
The next win was a 2-0 shutout against Warner Pacific (Ore.) on Friday. The Saints out-shot the Knights 30-4.
Emily Funseth (Great Falls, Mont. / SR) was fouled in the 69th minute to allow a penalty shot before burying the ball in the top left corner of the net, giving Carroll the lead.
Molly Molvig (Billings, Mont. / JR) scored another goal in the last two minutes to seal the game.
Up next, the Carroll Women's Soccer team will travel to central Oregon to face Bushnell and Corban University next weekend.
