Women's Soccer | 10/04/23 | 9:07 AM
Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) have released the latest edition of the NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Rating. Carroll College makes their initial 2023 appearance in the poll in the "receiving votes" category.
The Fighting Saints (7-0-2, 4-0-1) are off to one of their best starts in recent program history. For the first time since 2018, Carroll is appearing in the "receiving votes" portion of the national poll.
Currently, Carroll (4-1) sits at No. 2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings, trailing only the College of Idaho (5-0).
The College of Idaho, Saturday's opponent for the Saints, is the only other CCC school represented on the NAIA poll, checking in at No. 16
The last time that Carroll was rated in the national poll was 2016 (No. 23 - Preseason). In 2015, Carroll appeared at No. 25 in the final poll of the season.
The Saints will host Eastern Oregon, who had been receiving votes in the prior poll, on Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium, as well as a Saturday match with No. 16 College of Idaho.
Rating Methodology
- The rating was rated by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Continental Athletic Conference (Independents), and Unaffiliated Groups.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place, and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes."
