HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Soccer teams are back in Helena with a little extra rest this weekend, hosting Providence in their lone game of thee week on Valley Bank Field at Nelson Stadium.
It's been nearly a full month since the Fighting Saints had the chance to play on their home turf, but today they make their return for a doubleheader against the in-state rival Argonauts, with the Women kicking things off at noon, and the Men to follow at 2:30 p.m.
For the Carroll Women (3-3-6, 2-1-4), Saturday's match carries a little extra weight than recent seasons. Entering the weekend, the Saints sit in ninth place on the league table. Providence is right ahead of them in the standings, two points clear and holding the No. 8 eight spot.
Looking to continue their string of consecutive trips to the CCC Championships, Saturday's match with the Argos will prove highly consequential. As is stands, Providence would be the final team into the postseason tournament, but a Saints win on Saturday would flip the pair in the standings.
Carroll has a 12-game win streak in the series, and have not lost to Providence since the 2017 season. They'll look to continue the trend as push for postseason qualification.
On the Men's side of the action, the Saints (5-4-2, 4-2-1) find themselves in a solid spot to return to the postseason - albeit at a slightly lower spot than they would like, sitting at No. 4 in the league standings.
It's been an up-and-down season for the Carroll Men, with flashes of brilliance, as well as moments of confusion. They return home for the first time in October following a two week road swing in which they went 2-2, picking up wins over both Oregon Tech and Eastern Oregon, while falling to conference No. 2 Southern Oregon and a forgettable loss to previously winless College of Idaho.
Cards have played a large role in Carroll's 2026 struggles. The Saints have been shown six total red cards - the highest number in the entire NAIA.
Finding a way to stay more disciplined over the final three weeks of the regular season will play a major role in the success of the Saints, as they aim to make another run to the NAIA National Tournament.
Much like the Women, the Men have a lengthy win streak over the Argos, winning seven straight dating back to 2021.
