HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Men's and Women's Soccer teams return to the pitch this afternoon at Nelson Stadium and begin their 2022 campaigns with a pair of exhibition contests. The Carroll Women will kick-off the start of a new year, hosting the first Carroll game of the year, against North Idaho College at 1 p.m. The Saints Men will then play host to the University of Lethbridge immediately after the Women's match at 3 p.m.
The two games are exhibition contests, not counting towards either team's regular season records. Both teams are looking to use this first match of the year as a measuring tool, establishing where they sit, and what needs to be worked on. The games also mark the first chance for each team to work on team-chemistry, with a bevy of new faces replacing the departed graduates of 2021.
The Saints Women will likely turn towards the veteran leadership of Honorable Mention All-Conference Forward
Blair Stapleton (Billings, Mont. / SR), Second-Team All-Conference Midfielder
Kody Clements (Nederland, Colo. / SR) and Honorable Mention All-Conference Goalkeeper
Sarah Conway (Belt, Mont. / SR), while also getting a chance to involve some of the younger players, including six Sophomores and ten Freshman.
On the Men's side, Carroll returns First-Team All-Conference Forward
Rory Bloy (Johannesburg, South Africa / SR) and Honorable Mention All-Conference Defender
Luke Rosenberger (Eau Claire, Wisc. / JR). Head Coach
Doug Mello will have plenty of options to see some underclassmen get playing time with a recruiting class that brings 14 new student-athletes to Carroll.
Both games will be streamed live on the Fighting Saints Network at www.youtube.com/carrollathletics.
