BOZEMAN, Mont. – What started as a defensive battled with little scoring turned into an offensive rout as Montana State women's basketball rolled to a 74-34 victory over Carroll College Monday evening at Worthington Arena in Bozeman.
The Saints and Bobcats struggled to get scoring going early, battling to a 3-3 tie nearly five minutes into the game. MSU closed the quarter on a 7-0 run and never looked back en route to the win.
The game was a regular-season game for Montana State but an exhibition game for Carroll.
Three Bobcats scored in double figures led by Jasmine Hommes with 18 points. Riley Nordgaard tallied 14 points and Lindsey Stockton scored 10 points.
Sara Chalich led the way for the Saints with 12 points to pace the Carroll offense.
Cassidy Hashley and Bailey Watson each scored six. Watson and
Michaela Dowdy had five rebounds for the Saints.
Carroll shot 12 of 51 (23.5 percent) from the field and had an uncharacteristic 22 turnovers.
MSU was 27 of 64 (42.2 percent) from the field and outrebounded the Saints 45-35.
The Saints are off for Christmas break before facing the University of Idaho in the final exhibition game of the season on Dec. 28 in Moscow.
