HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Basketball teams will begin the home stretch of the 2025 Frontier Conference season with a pair of critical road games at Montana Western this afternoon in Dillon. The Women will get things started at 2 p.m., with the Men following at 4 p.m.
With just five games remaining on the conference slate, the No. 20-ranked Carroll Women (16-7, 8-2) sit alone at the top of the Frontier leaderboard.
Fighting for their third consecutive Frontier Conference championship, the Fighting Saints have been finding ways to win in a multitude of ways this season.
Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR) began the week as the Frontier Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and didn't disappoint in Thursday's win over MSU-Northern. The lengthy guard scored 23 points on the night, continuing her strong play in Carroll's recent three-game win-streak. Over the last three, Albrecht is averaging 25.6 points per game.
Injuries and illness are realities over the course of the four-month season, but Carroll has pushed through, needing just three more wins to secure at least a share of the Frontier title.
Carroll owns a 2-0 mark over the Bulldogs this season, and will look to complete the season sweep this afternoon in Dillon. Dating back to 2020, the Saints have won 17-straight in the series, including their most recent 63-48 win in Helena last month.
The Carroll Men also enter the week with a pair of consecutive wins under their belt, and will look to keep fighting for position and a potential opening round bye in the first round of the upcoming Frontier Conference tournament.
The Saints enter the weekend tied with Rocky for third in the conference standings at 5-5, but own a tiebreaker over the Bears thanks to a pair of large-margin victories on the season.
This afternoon's final meeting between the Saints and Bulldogs carries plenty of weight, with Western lurking just behind Carroll in the standings (4-6). Today's winner will own the season series, with both teams winning the previous meetings this season on their respective home courts.
Western's Kyle Gruhler went off for 32 points in the first meeting in Dillon, while
Isaiah Crane (Portland, Ore. / R-FR) led the charge with 19 points in Carroll's 86-78 win in Helena last month.
