HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Athletics is proud to present another installment of a celebration of our outstanding Fighting Saint student-athletes who model excellence in all they do, embodying the NAIA Champions of Character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

Student-athletes from each program will be recognized as our Fighting Saints Champions of Character throughout the year. We are excited to partner with Intrepid Credit Union to sponsor this recognition of our student-athletes. Intrepid Credit Union is a corporate champion of Carroll Athletics, supporting our 15 sports and 400-plus student-athletes.
 
From the Women's Soccer team, the first Champion of Character is Ella Kuenzli.
 
Kuenzli is a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo. majoring in Political Science.
 
This past season, Kuenzli was selected as a captain by her teammates, demonstrating strong leadership qualities to help guide her team throughout the season. On the pitch, the junior provided a steady presence in the midfield, finishing her season with eight total points - one goal and six assists.
 
"Ella is a true leader both on and off the field" said fellow captain Emily Funseth. "She continually brings a positive energy to every environment she's in, and is a great representative of Carroll College."

Kuenzli serves as a representative for Women's Soccer on the Carroll Student-Athlete Avisory Coucil (SAAC), as well as the Carroll Student Government. Recently she was named a CSC Academic All-District selection, carrying an impressive 4.0 GPA throughout her time at Carroll.

"Ella is an exceptional person" said Head Coach David Thorvilson. " Her energy and enthusiasm makes you want to be better, whether its on the pitch, or in the classroom or community. She was chosen as a team captain, among a group with an already strong senior leadership, yet still managed to make an impact on her teammates and the program. We're lucky to have individuals like her here at Carroll."
 
On the Men's Side, William Dominguez is Kuenzli's co-Champion of Character.
 
Dominguez is a senior from Mattawa, Wash. and was the Cascade Collegiate Conference's Male Champion of Character nomination for the NAIA Awards this past Fall.
 
Dominguez has been a tremendous presence on the Carroll Men's Soccer team over the past two seasons, providing a positive attitude, enduring work ethic, and willingness to help the team at all costs. He is continuously ready to provide a spark off the bench, often the first man in when it's time for the reserves to provide a lift.

William is a fighter, he is an entrepreneur, an innovator, and a kind soul who cares deeply about his community, and he has proven time and again that he will out-work everyone. His high-achieving attitude, successfully bouncing from one task to the next, has had a profound impact in the locker room, garnering respect and admiration from his teammates and more.
 
Dominguez works with area youth, providing guidance for teens in need and helping lead them through whatever difficulties they are going through. In addition, he and a teammate started a taco business, providing homemade food for the Carroll student body, embracing his strong entrepreneurial spirit.
 
"He is a special young man, one who with time will transition to a great friend of mine." said Shick. "I feel as a coach that I have learned more about life through William than I have in hundreds of others. Uniquely, I am guiding him through life and helping him make big life decisions while I am admiring his perseverance, and taking notes of his desire in all aspects of life.
