Women's Basketball | 11/15/24 | 3:03 PM
HELENA, Mont. - The No. 9-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team will play a pair of CCC opponents this weekend, No. 23 Lewis-Clark State and Eastern Oregon on Friday and Saturday at the P1FCU Activity Center in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Fighting Saints (1-1) enter the week as the No. 9 team in the NAIA, and will start their weekend off with a Top-25 matchup against the No. 23 Warriors on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m.
The teams are no strangers, having met 32 times since the 2004-05 season. Carroll holds a 20-12 record in the series, and won a top-10 bout between the pair last season at the Thanksgiving Classic in Helena, 91-79.
Both teams look much different this season, with the departure of NAIA Player of the Year
Jamie Pickens from Carroll, and All-CCC performer Callie Stevens for the Warriors.
The Warriors have a pair of wins over Arizona schools, including a 79-61 win over Carroll's next home opponent, Embry-Riddle.
On Saturday, the Saints will square off with Eastern Oregon at 3 p.m. to cap the event.
The Saints and Mounties have only one prior meeting, a 48-34 win in the 2019-20 season in Helena.
Willa Albrecht (Billings, Mont. / R-JR) had an impressive outing in Carroll's win over Whitworth last weekend, filling up nearly every column of the stat sheet in a 22-point, eight-rebound performance.
Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SR) has been outstanding in the early season, leading the team at a 20.0 ppg average, while shooting 58.8 percent from three point range.
