KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has released the latest edition of the NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Carroll College appears in the receiving votes portion of the poll for the first time in program history.
For the the first time in the 11-year history of the Carroll College Men's Soccer program, the Fighting Saints are receiving votes in the NAIA National Coaches' Poll.
The Saints are off to one of the best starts in school history, and are arguably one of the hottest teams in the nation.
Carroll is currently 7-1-2 with a perfect 6-0-0 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, riding an 8-game unbeaten streak into this weekend's road trip to College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.
Winning games is important, but the fashion in which the Saints are doing so through 10 games is highly impressive. The Saints have not conceded a single goal in their last eight games, dating back over a month to September 5.
Felix Billard (Mallorca, Spain / SO) made individual history earlier this season, becoming just the second Fighting Saint to be named NAIA National Player of the Week.
Billard and fellow forward, Alfie Snow (Middlesbrough, England / FR), are currently No. 1 and 2 in the league in both total points and points per game.
Goalkeeper Juan Muniz Navarette (Hermiston, Ore. / JR) has a conference-best .24 Goals Against Average.
Poll Methodology:
- The poll is for publicity purposes only and has no weight or bearing in the selection process for national championship field consideration.
- A panel of head coaches representing each conference and Continental Athletic Conference (Independents) voted on the poll.
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter votes for the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place, 28 points for third-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed.
- Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered "receiving votes".
