Saints Soccer Continues Road Swing Against Yotes, Mounties

10/09/26 | 10:36 AM

HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Soccer teams are on the road again, looking for big wins this weekend against some of the CCC's top competitors in the College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon.

The Fighting Saints are on their second-straight weekend road trip, looking to knock-off the Yotes on Friday night with the Women playing at 4 p.m. and the Men to follow at 6:30 p.m., then turning around for another pair tomorrow in La Grande against the Mountaineers at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

On the Women's side, the Saints (2-2-6, 1-0-4) find themselves in a log-jam for fifth place in the league table at seven points. They'll square off against two of the top teams in the standings, as the Yotes and Mounties both sit tied for second with a 4-1 record in league play.

Draws have been the name of the game for Carroll this season. While the Saints remain unbeaten in conference play, they have struggled to find any game winners near the midway point of the conference slate. Outside of a 5-1 offensive explosion against Northwest, Carroll has been unable to break free from their opponents as of late. Allowing early goals, then having to fight their way back in the second half just to split the points has been the trend, but the Saints remain confident in their ability to find a breakthrough this weekend.

Friday night brings a test against the No. 4-ranked team in the NAIA, but the Yotes are not bulletproof. C of I lost to Eastern Oregon last weekend, and the Saints will look to add another this week.

On the Men's side, Carroll (4-3-2, 3-1-1) comes in with some momentum following a 4-1 win over Oregon Tech last Saturday. Although they suffered their first setback of the conference season last week at CCC leader Southern Oregon, Luis Barreto's (Marracaibo, Venezuela / JR) hat trick helped the Saints bounce back against the Owls.

The Men sit at No. 4 in the league table, one point clear of Saturday's opponent Eastern Oregon. Saturday night will be a matchup between the last two CCC regular season champions, and will play a major role in seeding come November's Conference tournament.
