LA GRANDE, Ore. - Looking to rebound from a disappointing loss last night in Idaho, the Carroll Men's Soccer team bounced-back with a 1-0 win over 2025 CCC Champion Eastern Oregon on Saturday night.
The Fighting Saints (5-4-2, 4-2-1) were forced to play without the services of captain
Sam Loughton, goalkeeper
Dane Quinn, and centerback
Luis Barreto following red cards in last night's loss at C of I, but still found a way to win a critical late season matchup against the Mounties (2-3-5, 2-2-3).
Carroll controlled the action completely in the opening half. The Saints registered the only three shots in the frame, holding EOU without a single attempt through solid play from front to back.
The Mounties would up the pressure in the second half, but Carroll keeper
Noah Jordan (Deer Park, Wash. / JR) was up to the task. Eastern Oregon outshot Carroll 8-5 over the final 45 minutes, but Jordan came away with five big time saves to preserve the shutout.
With the match appearing to head towards a 0-0 draw, the Saints finally found a breakthrough in the 79th minute.
Sean Balen (Mukilteo, Wash. / SR) played a great ball in to
Arnaldo Primera (West Midlands, England / FR), who put away his first career goal to give Carroll a late 1-0 advantage.Â
Carroll held off a late EOU push, and walked out with a much-needed response win after last night's 3-0 loss at C of I.
The Saints will now turn their attention towards a single match next weekend, as they host Providence at Nelson Stadium next Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
