CHAMP

Men's Soccer | 09/29/22 | 8:48 AM

HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Athletics is proud to announce a monthly celebration of our outstanding Fighting Saint student-athletes who model excellence in all they do, embodying the NAIA Champions of Character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Two student-athletes will be recognized as our Fighting Saints Champions of Character each month. We are excited to partner with Intrepid Credit Union to sponsor this recognition of our student-athletes. Intrepid Credit Union is a corporate champion of Carroll Athletics, supporting our 15 sports and 360 student-athletes.

September's Fighting Saints Champions of Character, presented by Intrepid Credit Union, are
Jaymee Sheridan - Women's Soccer (Helena, Mont. / SO)
Jack Bentson - Men's Soccer (Bozeman, Mont. / SR)

Jaymee Sheridan has had nothing but a positive impact on the Fighting Saints Women's Soccer team and can rarely be seen without a smile on her face. The Sophomore Nursing major has an infectious personality and an unbending passion for helping others. Jaymee was the President of the Niceness is Priceless Club, a leader in the AWANAS Club, a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a leader in Pure Performance, a club for anti-drugs and alcohol athletes as well as a volunteer for the Special Olympics. Despite being a busy student-athlete who is actively involved in the service of her community, Jaymee will never deny a request from a teammate or a friend. She is always eager to help anyone, and will do so with a supportive and positive attitude. There isn't a practice or a game where Jaymee doesn't encourage each one of her teammates and boost the team's overall energy. She is a leader for the Saints and plays an important role, both on and off the field, by always setting a good example by the way she approaches soccer, school, and her relationships with others. Looking back at her first home game as a Saint, Jaymee recalls "realizing that I would be a part of a family and not just a team", and has approached her career at Carroll with this in mind. She is a joy both to play with and to coach and will undoubtedly continue to lead the Saints with her exemplary character and attitude. After school Jaymee wants to be a traveling geriatric or pediatric nurse. She hopes to continue to serve others and make a difference in people's lives.

Senior Jack Bentson is going to leave a Men's Soccer program that is far better off than the one he first came into four years ago. Jack has made a remarkably positive impact on his teammates and his community through his hard work and dedication to the program. He designed an internship to serve as the Community Engagement and Marketing Coordinator for Carroll College Men's Soccer, with the goal to increase the connection between Carroll's surrounding community and the Fighting Saints Men's Soccer team. Jack has been developing these connections through managing the team's social media campaign, establishing a partnership with the local youth soccer program, and developing an "adopt an athlete" program to connect players with local families and soccer fans. Because of Jack's efforts, every member of the team now has a host family that they can rely on for occasional home-cooked meals, baked treats, and additional support at home games. The program that Jack has put in place has resulted in even more community involvement and support than originally expected. Jack's influence on both his own teammates and his community as a whole will last far beyond his time here at Carroll. Jack is a Business Management and Marketing major and upon graduating he plans to get an MBA or JD and work in sports marketing or management, where he can continue to use his skills to better sports programs and the lives of those involved in them. Jack's favorite memory from his time as a Saint is beating Southern Oregon in a walk-off overtime victory. His teammates and coaches are extremely grateful for what Jack has done for the program, and can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
