KANSAS CITY, Mo.– United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday the College Team Academic Award winners, recognized for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year. Both the Carroll College Men's and Women's Soccer teams have been recognized.
 
The Carroll Women's Soccer Team ended this year with a 3.79 Grade Point Average. That mark was the fifth-highest Women's GPA in the nation, and the second-highest GPA in program history.
 
"I am tremendously proud of the work our team puts into being a student-athlete at Carroll College." Said Women's Head Coach David Thorvilson. "Long road trips and missed classes make the accomplishment all the more impressive."
 
The Saints Men finished the academic year with a team-wide Grade Point Average of 3.19, and once again find themselves on the list for the eighth-consecutive year.
 
"We are proud to be eight-for-eight in being named with this prestigious honor." Said Men's Head Coach Doug Mello. "Since starting this program eight years ago, we have not missed an opportunity to be named to this prestigious list, and that shows the true quality of the student-athletes that join our program."
 
Carroll is the only school to be represented by both the Men's and Women's programs in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
 
A total of 800 soccer teams (299 Men, 501 Women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 academic year. Of that total, 151 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.
 
The Carroll Soccer teams will both report to campus early next week and begin preparation for the 2022 season, with scheduled home games on August 14.
