GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The 11
th ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team will face off with No. 16 Providence in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. Tip-off from Great Falls will be at 7 p.m.
Carroll, who entered the conference tournament as a three seed, took care of business on Wednesday night beating MSU-Northern 73-39 in the quarterfinal round. Providence is the two-seed and had a first round bye.
With Wednesday night's win, the Saints are now 24-6 on the season. They went 11-4 in the conference season.
Providence achieved a regular season record of 25-5, going 12-3 in Frontier Conference action.
Carroll and Providence have met in three games this season, all of which have been very intense. The Argos won the first meeting on January 13, 62-59. Carroll got revenge on January 29, winning by a final score of 60-45 at the PE Center. In the rubber match, it was the Argos beating Carroll 93-92 in double-overtime to close the regular season with a share of the Frontier title.
The stakes are even higher this time around, with a trip to the Frontier Conference championship game on the line. The winner of this game will play the winner of No. 11 Rocky Mountain College and Montana Tech.
If Rocky wins, they will host the championship game in Billings. If Montana Tech beats Rocky, the winner of Carroll and Providence will host the championship game.
