No. 4 Carroll Women's Basketball Grabs Road Win at Grace College, 71-57

Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The No. 4 Carroll College Women's Basketball team picked up a road win at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. on Wednesday, 71-57.

Carroll (2-2) evened their 2022-23 record, gutting out a road win two time zones away over a previously undefeated Grace College (2-1) team on Wednesday.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with Carroll taking a 16-13 advantage at the quarter break behind Sienna Swannack's (Nine Mile Falls, Wash. / GR) five points and three rebounds.

It was the Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / SO) show in the second quarter. Eckstrom, who has been playing exceptionally well to start her Sophomore campaign, poured in all 12 of her total points, going 5-7 in the frame. The Lancers however were near unstoppable in the quarter, shooting 70 percent from the field as a team to give Grace a 35-32 lead at halftime.

The Carroll defense would show up in the third, as the Saints were able to hold the Lancers to just 12 points. Carroll shot 50 percent from the field in the frame, picking up five more points from Swannack and Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) adding four points of her own to give the Saints a 53-47 lead heading into the final quarter of play.

Maddie Geritz (Boise, Idaho / R-SR) would show up in a big way in the fourth quarter, scoring seven points and adding one rebound, an assist, and a steal to secure the 71-57 win for the Saints.

Sienna Swannack and Addi Ekstrom tied for a team-high 12 points for Carroll, while Jamie Pickens added nine points and six rebounds.

Jenna Blakely scored 13 points to lead the Lancers, followed by Karlee Feldman's 12 points. 

Carroll is the first team to slow down Grace on the year. The Saints held the Lancers to 39 fewer points than the 96 they were averaging coming into the game.

The Saints will stay in Indiana, as they turn their attention towards the Leah Whittaker Memorial Classic and yet another game against a ranked opponent. Carroll will play No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan on Friday evening at 4 p.m. (MST).
