HELENA, Mont. -- A battle for No. 1 looms.

The No. 16-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints women's basketball team heads to No. 19 Montana Western to take on the Bulldogs in a matchup that will determine the No. 1 team in the Frontier Conference heading into the final two weeks of the season.

The Saints and Bulldogs are knotted at 1-1 in their season series. The Saints won the first matchup 80-77 on January 17 while the Bulldogs came back into the PE Center and knocked off the Saints 59-51 on January 31. This will be the first meeting in Dillon.

The Saints will call upon their steady defense to muzzle the Bulldogs. Carroll is No. 3 in the NAIA in total rebound defense (30) and No. 10 in the NAIA in scoring defense per game (57.2 points allowed). Carroll is led by the scoring of Dani Wagner's 13.6 points per game, Christine Denny's 6.5 rebounds per game and Kamden Hilborn's 3.3 assists per game.

The Saints took down No. 24 Rocky Mountain College 71-68 in overtime earlier this week.

Western enters the game after taking down No. 24 Rocky Mountain College 62-41 on Thursday. The Bulldogs are led by Shannon Worster's 10 points per game.

The game will pit a similarly ranked defensive team against the Saints. The Bulldogs are also ranked highly in total rebound defense (No. 5 in the NAIA) and scoring defense (No. 8 in the NAIA).

The game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:30 p.m. in Dillon.
