HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 8 Carroll College Fighting Saints women's basketball team faces a stiff road test this week.
The Saints (16-7, 8-4 Frontier Conference) head to No. 3 Montana Western (20-1, 11-1) and No. 17 Lewis-Clark State (17-6, 7-5) for a pair of difficult games.
The Saints have been led by senior
Hannah Dean, who took her play to another level in the Saints' win over Montana State-Northern when she posted a career-high 29 points.
Western defeated the Saints twice so far this season. In both contests the Saints got out to lethargic starts.
"We have to put some points on the board," Saints coach
Rachelle Sayers told Sports 94.9. "We have to start faster. The last two games we've had better second halves. Our first quarters have been our demise. We've worked on some new things and it's been a focus to start fast."
Western continues to be led by Bri King, who leads the Frontier Conference in scoring at 22.8 points per game.
The game against Western tips off at 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, the Saints turn their focus to Lewis-Clark State College. Carroll holds two wins over LCSC, but the Warriors are within striking distance of the Saints for the No. 2 spot in the Frontier Conference standings.
Led by Jossilyn Blackman's 13 points per game, LCSC brings a high-pace offense with it every night. Though the Warriors have had 50-point outings in their past two games, they've shown the ability to light up the scoreboard against some of the Frontier's best.
Saturday's game tips off at 2 p.m.
