Imhoff Leads Carroll to Win Over MSU-Northern

HELENA, Mont. – Ryan Imhoff scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and the sixth-ranked Carroll men's basketball team led wire-to-wire to earn a 64-57 win over MSU-Northern Saturday.
 
The Saints jumped out to a 7-0 lead and built the advantage to 27-13 with 9:04 to play in the first half before the Lights began chipping away.
 
Northern cut the deficit to 30-23, but the Saints led 35-26 at the break.
 
The Lights hit a three-pointer to cut the Carroll lead to 35-29, but the Saints extended the lead back to 50-38. The Lights would not go away, and the eventually cut the deficit to 58-54 with just over a minute to play, but Lorel Johnson responded with a bucket, and Northern turned over the ball giving Carroll a chance to extend the lead at the line.
 
Carroll went 4-4 at the line in the final 15 seconds to clinch the seven-point victory.
 
The Saints were 26-51 (51.0 percent) from the field and the 3-9 (33.3 percent) three-point line. Along with Imhoff's double-double, Matt Wyman added 12 points.
 
"I was impressed with our guys' ability to D up," head coach Carson Cunningham said. "Northern is tough to deal with -- they have a slew of shooters. The Fighting Saints were flying around in harmony, and it was fun to watch. Now it's on to the next, another road battle."
 
MSU-Northern was 18-43 (41.9 percent) from the field and 8-20 (40 percent) from the three-point line.
 
Ryan Reeves led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Gabe Porter notched 10 points.
 
The Saints travel to Great Falls Saturday to face Providence. The game is slated to tip at 7:30 p.m.  The game will be broadcast on 94.9 FM ESPN Montana Radio and ESPNMONTANA.com. The game will be live streamed on the Providence Youtube channel. Live stats will be available on Dakstats.
