Biography
Lorel turned in yet another impressive season as a junior, playing huge minutes during Carroll's Frontier Conference reg. season and tourney championships and the school's second straight run to the NAIA National Tournament's Elite Eight. He shot 84% from the FT line, 43% from the field, and registered a nearly 2 to 1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
As a sophomore Lorel again played huge minutes and was a key part of Carroll's run to the Elite Eight of the NAIA national tournament. He finished third on the team in minutes, scored 7.4 ppg, 2.7 assists, and shot 40% from the three-point line.
Lorel Johnson of Downey, California had a standout freshman season for Carroll College. He finished the year 3rd on the team in total minutes, third in steals, and averaged 5.3pts. Most impressive, as a freshman he was one of the nation's leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio.
A business major, Lorel came to Helena after an impressive high school career during which he started every year. As a senior at Los Angeles's prominent Cathedral High School, Lorel was selected for the Southern Sectional All-League basketball team after averaging 9 points, 3 boards, and nearly 2 steals per game for the Phantoms.
