HELENA, Mont. – One week after knocking off No. 8 Westmont College, Carroll College women's basketball heads to Billings over the weekend for the Yellowjacket Classic against Valley City State University and Montana State University Billings.
Tied for No. 16 in the NAIA D-II coaches preseason poll, VCSU (3-4) enters the competition with an up-and-down start to the season having wins against their ranking counterpart, No. 16 Jamestown, and narrow losses against NAIA D-II No. 2 Dakota-Wesleyan University and No. 8 Northwestern College. The Vikings are led by Mackenzie Huber with 14.1 points per game and 48 total rebounds.
NCAA D-II MSU Billings (2-1) will count Sunday's game against Carroll as an exhibition, but the Saints will look to continue their hot-start to the season and stifle a Yellowjacket offense that has scored over 60 points in each contest this season. Hannah Collins has been the go-to for Head Coach, Kevin Woodin. She's tallied 18.3 points per game on a .459 field goal percentage.
Hannah Dean continues to be the focal point for the Saints offense. Dean leads the team in points per game with 13.8 and has 13 steals on the season. Newcomer,
Emma Madsen, has been a bright spot, providing the Saints with a necessary spark throughout the start to this season.
The Saints tip off at 2 p.m. on both days.
