HELENA, Mont. – The 10th ranked Carroll College women's basketball team travels to Montana Tech Thursday before hosting No. 18 Rocky Mountain Saturday at the PE Center.
The Saints sit in the top spot in the Frontier at 6-2 (14-5 overall) and have won seven of their last eight with the lone setback a 59-43 loss at Montana Western last Thursday.
Montana Tech sits fifth in the league at 3-5 but put up a 90-62 shellacking on Providence who was riding a five-game win streak before the loss. Rocky is currently third in the league at 5-3, they dropped their last game at Montana Western 64-57. The first game with Carroll was a 58-56 overtime win for Carroll.
Hannah Dean leads Carroll with 11.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She also tops Carroll in assists, steals and blocks.
Bailey Pasta averages 10.4 PPG and
Michaela Dowdy has come on strong of late. She is averaging 9.3 PPG, but 11 PPG in conference play.
Carroll as a team is in the top ten in the NAIA DI in rebound defense, total blocks and scoring defense. The Saints are the No. 2 team in the Frontier in scoring defense.
The Diggers are coming off of back-to-back conference road wins but are just 3-5 in Frontier play. Shay Potter leads Montana Tech with 11.8 PPG and 7.3 RPG. The Saints dominated the fourth quarter and pulled away for an eight-point win.
Rocky Mountain is the top team in NAIA DI for scoring defense. Former Carroll player Brooke Jones leads the team with 12.6 PPG and 6.7 RPG. In the first meeting, Carroll led by four with just 22 seconds remaining, but Rocky rallied to tie the game at 52 at the buzzer. The edged the Bears in overtime on good free throw shooting to earn the win.
