HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College women's basketball team has twice traveled to Butte to face Montana Tech this season, and twice the Diggers came away with a win. The Saints will try to reverse the trend Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference Championship.
The Saints, the fourth seed in the tournament, finished the season with an 18-12 record and an 8-10 Frontier mark. Montana Tech finished conference 9-9 and 15-14 overall.
Carroll fell to Montana Tech 66-55 on Jan. 12, and 58-50 last Thursday. The Saints defeated the Diggers 65-50 on Feb. 2 in Helena.
"I don't think that at this point you're able to change much," head coach
Rachelle Sayers said. "We have to be better at the things we do. I think our strength is in the paint. We've always been a good defensive and rebounding team. I don't think we were particularly good in either of those areas at Tech. We held them to 58 points and to most people that seems like a good job."
Carroll is led by
Cassidy Hashley with 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
Bailey Pasta scores 10.6 PPG, and
Hannah Dean averages 10.0 PPG.
Montana Tech is led by Martha Dembeck with 15.3 points per game, Hattie Thatcher scores 11.3 PPG and Monica Landdeck averages 63.6.
The Saints have lost three–straight but won five of the previous six games before the skid.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. at the HPER Complex in Butte. ESPN Montana Radio 94.9 FM will broadcast the game. A live stream will be available via Montana Tech's youtube channel and live stats will be available via Dakstats.
