Carroll women Travel to MSUN, UGF

HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College women's basketball team travels north for a pair of games against No. 11 MSU-Northern Friday and the University of Great Falls Saturday.

The Carroll women look to build on a 21-point win over Rocky Mountain last Saturday. The Saints are 3-5 in Frontier play but lost three games by a combined five points.

Cassidy Hashley leads the Saints with 15.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Bailey Pasta averages 10.9 points per game.

The Saints make their mark on the defensive end. Carroll is the eighth-ranked defensive scoring team in the country, giving up just 56.1 points per game.

In the first meetings of the season, Carroll topped UGF 64-60 in overtime and lost 58-56 to Northern.

Head coach Rachelle Sayers says her team had a great week of practice and is looking forward this weekend's games.

"We are really looking forward to getting back on the floor," Sayers said. "We've had a great week of practice and feel like we're continuing to get better each week. We will definitely be challenged in both games, both games were extremely close at home. We definitely need to cut down on our turnovers, continue to rebound and continue to have a balanced inside outside attack. We can still make a run and our kids are focused on doing that."

The Skylights are 16-4 on the season and 6-3 in Frontier play after coming from behind to top UGF Thursday. Reigning Frontier Player of the Year Natalie Faupel leads MSUN with 16.7 points per game. Sierra Richards is second on the team with 11.6 points and records a team-high 7.83 rebounds per game.

Saturday, the Saints face UGF. The Argos are 12-8 overall but have struggled out of the gate in the Frontier Conference schedule with only one win to date. Despite the struggles, the Argos are a talented team with a strong non-conference resume.

Stephanie McDonagh leads UGF with 16.5 points and 6.58 rebounds per game. Nneka Nnadi is second on the team with 13.32 PPG.

The Saints and Lights are scheduled to tipoff at 6 p.m. Friday at the Armory in Havre. The game will be broadcast live on 94.9 ESPN Montana Radio and live on ESPNMontana.com. Live video will be available via MSU-Northern and live stats will be available via Dakstats.
