Saints Fall to Hot Shooting UGF 90-82

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Carroll College men's basketball team fell 90-82 to the University of Great Falls Saturday night in Great Falls.
 
The Saints opened a 24-17 lead with 8:12 left in the first half but the Argos went on a 10-0 run over the next 3:41 to take a 27-24 lead. The Saints cut the lead to 36-34 at the half.
 
After the break, Carroll regained the lead and built a 43-40 advantage but the Argos hit back-to-back shots to take the lead and they would never trail again.
 
UGF built the lead to 84-69 with 2:36 left in the game but the Saints were able to cut it to 86-80 with 34 seconds left but couldn't close out the comeback bid.
 
The Argos had their best shooting performance of any conference game this season en route to the win. UGF was 32 of 62 (51.6 percent) from the field, including 18 of 29 (62.1 percent) in the second half.
 
Carroll shot well themselves, shooting 29 of 54 (53.7 percent) but had 20 turnovers.
 
Ryan Imhoff led the Saints with 22 points and seven rebounds, both game highs. Oliver Carr came off the bench to score 21 and Zach Taylor and Match Burnham added 11 points each.
 
The Saints close out the season with a pair of crucial games. Carroll travels to Montana Western Thursday to face a surging Montana Western team who has battled to tie the Saints for second-place in the Frontier Standings. The winner of the game will earn a first-round bye in the Conference tournament.
 
Saturday, the Saints face Rocky Mountain in the final home game of the regular season.
