HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College women's soccer team travels north to Great Falls to face the University of Great Falls for the second meeting of the season Saturday at Argo Field in Cascade Conference action.
The Saints won the first match up 2-0 and look to be the better team on paper but the Argos may have turned the corner after a 2-0 weekend on the road.
"UGF is coming off a tremendous weekend with upsets over the College of Idaho and Rocky on the road," head coach Dave Thorvilson. "I can only imagine they are excited to get a home match against one of the top teams in the conference. Although Great Falls' record isn't great, they are much improved since we played them last and they are a dangerous squad."
The Argos are 2-7 on the season and 2-4 in Cascade play. Eme McLaughlin is the only UGF player to score multiple goals this season. Kyra Dorvall is the starting goalkeeper with the 21 goals allowed in nine games.
The game is the only game of the week because the two teams are travel partners. It is also fall break for Carroll students.
"It is a little strange to only prep for one game," Thorvilson said. "With fall break, the kids are excited for a mental and physical break but we need to get through a tough fame first."
Michaela Kueffler leads the Saints with six goals and three assists on the season. Carroll goalkeeper
Jamie Carter has notched seven shutouts on the season, all coming in the last eight games and the Saints have gone 7-0-1 in the stretch.
The game is slated for 1:30 p.m. and live stats will be available via the
UGF athletic website.
