Carroll Women Host Tech, Lewis-Clark

HELENA, Mont. – The24th ranked Carroll College women's basketball team has the best record in the NAIA at 10-0 and the Saints have done it on the road eight of the 10 games and against some tough opponents, including No. 5 and otherwise undefeated Westmont and No. 14 The Master's.

Thursday the Saints return to the PE Center for the first time since Oct. 25 to open the Frontier Conference Season against the Montana Tech Orediggers Thursday at 5:30 p.m. before hosting Lewis-Clark State Friday, also at 5:30 p.m.

Montana Tech brings in a 4-7 record and has lost six-straight coming into Thursday's game but the Saints won't forget a season ago when the Digger topped the Saints to end a 10-game losing streak before beating Carroll just two weeks later in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference Tournament.

The Diggers lead the NAIA in 3-pointers made and in offensive rebounds presenting a nice challenge for a Carroll team that is first in defensive rebounds and sixth in scoring defense.

Tech is led by Sammy McGree with 13.64 points per game and Rachel Farris with 10.1 PPG and 7.7 rebounds per game.

The Saints counter with two of the top ten rebounders in the conference in Cassidy Hashley and Baylee Watson and Katie Estey, the sixth-best in the Frontier in assists dishing them the ball.

Friday, the Saints face an entirely different challenge in Lewis-Clark. The warriors are 7-2 after losing their last two contests. LC put up some gaudy offensive numbers over the first seven games, scoring over 100 four times and never scoring less than 88, but their last two opponents, St. Mary's University and our Lady of the Lake, held LC to 59 and 63 points respectively in a pair of losses.

Kay Knox leads the Warriors with 16.3 points per game but eight players average more than eight PPG. They lead the nation in seven different statistical categories as a team.

Thursday's game is scheduled to be a whiteout and fans are encouraged to wear purple on every Friday of the season.
