HELENA, Mont. — Crunch time is here as the Carroll College volleyball team enters the final week of the regular season.
The Saints host No. 18 Montana Tech on Wednesday in the PE Center and then face Lewis-Clark State College (RV) votes on Friday, a game which doubles as Senior Day for the Saints.
The last time the Saints faced a Top 25 foe in the PE Center, Carroll came away with a sweep of No. 16 Rocky Mountain College, dealing the Battlin' Bears their first conference loss of the season, and first conference loss since Oct. 27 of 2017.
The Saints (14-10, 5-5 Frontier Conference), the No. 3 team in the NAIA in blocks per game, will look to find that PE Center grit again. Led by
Lexi Mikkelsen (256 kills),
Ayla Carpenter (482 digs), Ali Williams (791 assists) and
Hannah Dean (114 blocks), Carroll has the firepower to win any game.
The Orediggers counter with a Top 10 blocking defense in the NAIA (2.4 per game). Among their standouts are Sabrina Hopcroft, who ranks No. 19 in the NAIA in digs per game at 5.6.
Earlier this season, the Saints fell 3-2 to the Orediggers in Butte. Since then, the Saints have gone 7-2.
The match will be streamed on the Carroll Athletics YouTube page and live stats will be provided through DakStats.
The match against Montana Tech is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
