Lewis-Clark Rallies to Beat No. 2 Carroll 72-70

HELENA, Mont. – The No. 10 Lewis-Clark Warriors overcame a 22-point deficit to come from behind to defeat Second-ranked and previously unbeaten Carroll College 72-70 Saturday night at the PE Center.

The Saints appeared in control the entire game, leading 43-27 at the half and 60-44 with 9:28 to play before the Warriors started the comeback.

They cut the lead to 70-69 with 2:14 to play and took the lead on a layup from Derrick White with 32 seconds remaining. Alejandro Santo Piqueras had a great look at a go-ahead layup with two seconds remaining, but it rimmed out. White was fouled and hit one of two to close out the 72-70 win.

Despite the loss, Ryan Imhoff was stellar again. He scored a game-high 26 points five assists and three steals. Match Burnham added 15. The Saints were 27-51 (52.9 percent) from the field and 4-9 (44.4 percent) from the three-point line.

Lewis-Clark was 24-53 (45.3 percent) from the field 7-17 (41.2 percent) from the three-point line. Martin Race led the Warriors with 17, White score 14 and Trae Thomas scored 10.

"This was a disappointing result," head coach Carson Cunningham said. "We have to learn from it. I could've done a better job making adjustments. And I think as a group we could've done a better job maintaining our focus from about the sixteen-minute mark to the seven-minute mark of the second half. Lewis-Clark State deserves credit for sticking with it. They played quite well, particularly in the second frame. We all need to make sure we grow from this."

The Saints will look to respond quickly, Carroll plays host to Rocky Mountain Tuesday at the PE Center.
