Carroll Men Host Providence, MSU-Northern

HELENA, Mont. - No. 14 Carroll College men's basketball hosts Providence Thursday and MSU-Northern Saturday at the PE Center.

The Saints enter the weekend in a tie with Lewis-Clark State for the second spot in the Frontier standings at 6-4 (18-4 overall), a game back of Montana Western.

Providence is 4-6 in league while Northern is 5-5. The Saints won road games in the first meetings, topping MSUN 99-93 in a thrilling overtime game in Havre, before picking up an 86-76 win over Providence in Great Falls.

The Saints enter the weekend as the top team in NAIA DI in field goal percentage, free throw percentage and total steals. They are also fifth in three-point field goal percentage, sixth in rebound defense, eighth in scoring defense and 10th in total blocks.

Ryan Imhoff scores a team-high 19.9 points per game, Match Burnham adds 14.3 PPG and Matt Wyman is also in double figures at 13.6 PPG.

Imhoff also leads the Saints in rebounding, assists, steals and blocks.

Carroll's first opponent Providence has shown impressive improvement from last season to this season. The Argos are coming off of a huge 70-67 win over No. 19 Lewis-Clark State.

DuShaun Rice leads Providence with 12.3 PPG while Sergio Berkley adds 11.9 PPG and Steven Daho-Clark adds 11.6 PPG.

MSU-Northern's Ryan Reeves is likely the best true center in the NAIA, leading the division in blocks, fourth in field goal percentage, and 10th in rebounding, but the Lights make more three-pointers than any team in NAIA DI and also lead the division in assists.

The Lights had the Saints on the ropes in the first meeting at the Armory in Havre, but the Saints erased a big deficit in the final minutes to force overtime where they earned a six-point win.

MSUN dropped its last game to Montana Western, but they picked up a home win over LCSC 70-67.

Both games are slated for 7:30 p.m. Jason Walker will be on the call for 94.9 ESPN Montana Radio and ESPNMontana.com. Live video will be available on the Carroll Athletics Youtube channel and Live stats are available via Dakstats.
