HAVRE, Mont. – The No. 13 Carroll College men's basketball team held MSU-Northern to just 48 points while shooting 29-42 (69 percent) from the field en route to a 64-48 win over the Lights Friday in Havre.
Ryan Imhoff scored 26 points on 13-15 shooting,
Oliver Carr had 17 points on 8-10 and
Zach Taylor was 7-9 from the field for 16 points.
Carroll started the game on a 13-3 run and took a 26-20 lead into halftime.
The Saints rattled off six-straight points to start the second half and built the lead to as big as 58-36 in the final minutes before cruising to the 16-point win.
"The fellas battled in front of a packed us and against a tough foe," head coach Carson Cunningham said. "It was impressive to see them fly around on D and execute with precision on O. Now it's on to Great Falls for another fun Frontier battle."
The Carroll defense was stifling, holding Northern to their season low on 16-41 (39 percent) shooting. Dylan Tatarka scored 12 points to lead the Lights, he was the only Northern player in double figures.
The Saints tallied 16 assists on 29 made baskets, including seven from
Zach Taylor. Carroll outrebound Northern 22-17.
The win was the seventh-straight for Carroll who is now 18-3 on the year and 8-1 in Frontier Conference play, tied with Montana Western for the conference lead.
