2018-19 Men's Basketball Roster
Biography
As a junior, Ife Kalejaiye started every game while helping lead Carroll to Frontier Conference regular season and tourney championships and to the school's third straight run to the NAIA National Tournament. His signature defense continued to be an important part of the Carroll team's performance and is something for which he is gaining national renown. He also shot 44% from the three-point line on the season and 89% from the FT line, averaging 8.2 points per game in addition to registering 49 steals and 65 assists. He is also thriving as a business major with an international business concentration at Carroll.
"Ife Kalejaiye is arguably the best perimeter defender in our league," Saints coach Kurt Paulson said. "He's kind of a lead by example guy. He's an elite defender. He's a good shooter. He's a leader. He's a fine young man. He's everything you want in a captain."
This season, Kalejaiye is one of the captains of the team and will have an important role as a starting guard for the Saints. Kalejaiye is known as a lockdown defender, but he also shoots and plays offense efficiently, taking advantage of his quickness and high IQ to constantly make the smart play.
As a freshman in 2015-16, Kalejaiye played a key role in Carroll's run to the NAIA National Tournament's Elite Eight. He started all three games in the NAIA National Tournament and played particularly stellar defense, a signature part of his game.
High School: Kalejaiye comes to Carroll College after a year of prep school and an outstanding high school basketball career. As a senior at Los Angeles' Cathedral HS in 2013-14, he managed to earn First-Team All-Camino Real League Honors and was an All-State nominee. He helped Cathedral to a league championship during his time as a Phantom, leading the team in scoring, steals and three-point percentage his senior year. He was also a four-year honor roll student in high school.
Personal: parents are Oladipo and Nonyelum Kalejaiye. Ife has one sister, Ebun, and two brothers, Dara and Laolu.
