Third-Ranked Lewis Clark Topples Saints 76-59

HELENA Mont. – No. 13 Carroll College men's basketball team fell to 3rd-ranked Lewis-Clark State 76-59, snapping their perfect 11-0 record at home.
 
The Warriors started the game on a 23-6 run with 10:48 left in the first half that proved to be too much for the Saints to overcome.
 
Guard Ife Kalejaiye would score eight straight points for Saints including back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the score to 34-18 with 4:05 remaining in the first half but the Warriors would extend that lead to 46-28 at halftime.
 
LCSC went on an 8-1 run to open extend its lead to 61-38 with 9:43 left in game.  Guard Lorel Johnson scored seven points in the final minutes for the Saints but the Warriors would close the game out with a 17-point win.
 
Jake Hollifield scored 10 points and recorded six rebounds and three blocks. Zach Taylor scored nine points and tallied five rebounds and two steals.
 
The Saints shot 22 of 46 (47.8 percent) from the floor while the Warriors were 28 of 58 (48.3 percent) for the game.
 
LCSC forced 22 turnovers from the Saints while committing 15.  Carroll was outrebounded 32-25.
 
"It was a frustrating game." said head coach Carson Cunningham. "I need to do a better job of having our guys ready for the level of intensity and physicality that Lewis-Clark State brought to this game."
 
The Saints fell to 18-6 overall and 11-3 in conference play.  Carroll dropped to one game behind Lewis-Clark State for first place in the Frontier Conference.
 
Carroll travels to face MSU-Northern and University of Great Falls next on Feb. 19 and 20 respectively.  The Lights are 15-10 on the season and 4-9 in conference.  The Argos sit at 10-12 overall and 3-10 in conference action.
