HELENA, Mont. – The No. 17 Carroll College women's basketball team held a 9-7 lead over No. 4 Westminster College early in the first half before the Griffins went on a 19-0 run en route to a 72-49 win over the Saints Saturday evening.
Carroll was able to cut the lead to 12 (49-37) with 10:30 left in the game before Westminster hit back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers to put the game out of reach.
Bailey Snelling and
Cassidy Hashley led the Saints with 13 points each. Hashley also had a team-high eight rebounds.
Four Griffins scored in double digits with Shelby Ellsworth with 15 points.
Westminster shot 24-0f-53(45.3 percent) from the field compared to 15-of-47 (31.9 percent for Carroll. The Griffins also outrebounded the Saints 35-27.
The Saints fall to 6-3 in conference play and 15-7 overall. Westminster held on to the top spot in the Frontier with an 8-1 record and an overall record of 18-1.
Carroll next hits the road for the final time this regular season with a trip to play No. 20 Great Falls Friday and No. 11 MSU-Northern Saturday.
