Marion, Ind. – The Fighting Saints closed out a tremendous meet at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday.
Carroll earned 4 additional All-Americans over the course of the day to bring the meet total to 8. The men's team hovered between 2nd and 4th overall throughout Friday, but were surpassed by William Carey in the final event - the 4x400m Relay - to finish the meet in 5th. It is the highest placing ever for a Men's Track & Field team either season at Carroll, and it equals the previous top placing program wide held by the 2017 Women's Indoor Track & Field team.
Both Josh Smalley and Tucker Monaco scored points in the Pole Vault, placing 6th and 8th respectively. Smalley is a senior and received his first All-American award of his career. Monaco earned his second All-American honors of the meet after also placing 3rd in the Decathlon Thursday.
In men's running events, Brycen Gardner raced in the final of the 3,000m Steeplechase. He set a personal best in the event which advanced his school record and scored him 5th overall. The placing earned him his first All-American honors. Zack Gacnik competed in the final of the 5000m, placing 12th to go along with his 9th place finish in the 10,000 on Wednesday.
Madalen Shipman was the only Saints woman competing on Friday. She raced in the 800m final, running a lifetime best. The time placed her 5th for her second All-American award in 2025. She was 3rd in the 600m at NAIA Indoor Nationals.
Besides Monaco, Carroll's additional All-Americans from Wednesday and Thursday are as follows: Weston Means (High Jump - National Champion), Carson Krack (Decathlon - National Champion), and Reuben Hornby (Javelin - National Runner Up). Krack's Decathlon was a personal best and bumped him to 2nd All-Time at Carroll. Hornby's throw moved him up to 2nd on the Saints' Top 10 Lists as well.
Across the men's & women's Nationals group, only Smalley has graduated meaning a strong contingent will return for the 2025-2026 season. The Saints will be eyeing a Top 4 finish and National trophy next spring.
"It was a really fun meet and just great to see our athletes be so competitive as individuals and a team," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "Everyone will look forward to some time off to recharge after their work all season, but we know they'll be excited to get back after it and look ahead to the future," he added.
