HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Athletic Director
Charlie Gross has announced the hiring of Brooklyn Purcell to lead the Fighting Saints Cheer team heading into the 2025-26 season.
Brooklyn Purcell is a 2023 graduate of Carroll with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary education. A four-year member of the Carroll College Cheer squad, Purcell was notably a team captain in the 2021-22 season, as well as a three-year member of the Carroll College Student Athlete Advisory Council.
"We're excited to welcome Brooklyn back into the fold as the Cheer Coach." Said Gross "She brings with her an extensive knowledge of our program, fresh perspective, and unmatched energy. Brooklyn's vision for the growth of this young program, as well as her unwavering commitment to fostering relationships with current, future, and former student-athletes will be a huge asset to the Fighting Saints. We look forward to welcoming back yet another alum who has great respect for the tradition of our school and spirit programs."
A search was conducted to find the new leader for Carroll's most recent sport offering following the departure of former Head Coach Allie Kosena, who decided to pursue an opportunity in the medical field out of state earlier this spring.
"I am beyond excited to lead the program that shaped who I am today." said Purcell "Carroll is an incredible place for young people to find their way in the world, and I look forward to being a part of our student-athlete's journeys."
As a Carroll cheer alumnus and the former East Helena High School Cheerleading coach, Purcell thinks of the transition to Head Coach at her Alma Mater is the perfect next step in her career.Â
"As an alum, I know first hand where this program has had both its successes and short comings. Bringing in a fresh perspective, I believe I'm able to help expand the program that taught me how to stand up for what I believe in and work hard. I look forward to help empower a new generation of Carroll student-athletes, and help foster a love for this institution like I have.
Purcell assumes the role fresh off of high school coaching experience as most recently the Head Coach, was well as prior time as an assistant coach, at East Helena High School.  She has over ten years of cheerleading experience, spanning All-Star, High School, collegiate, and now coaching.
Alongside her time as a cheer coach, Purcell has been a gymnastics instructor for seven years, with ample experience experience in coaching, tumbling, and the operation of countless cheerleading camps.
Purcell will begin effective immediately, and has big plans for the upcoming season.
"We've already begun working hard for this year, both with our current team and with an eye towards the future. Adding in weekly open gym offerings has provided a new challenge for our student-athletes, and is a new development for the betterment of our team. We're also hitting recruiting hard, reaching out to prospective athletes in the region and building relationships with underclassmen as we continue to grow this program!"
The Carroll Cheer team is coming off of their inaugural competitive season, and will expand their schedule to include more competitions at a number of NAIA-sanctioned events over the course of the winter months.
