HELENA, Mont. - Carroll College Athletics is proud to present another installment of a celebration of our outstanding Fighting Saint student-athletes who model excellence in all they do, embodying the NAIA Champions of Character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Student-athletes from each program will be recognized as our Fighting Saints Champions of Character throughout the year. We are excited to partner with Intrepid Credit Union to sponsor this recognition of our student-athletes. Intrepid Credit Union is a corporate champion of Carroll Athletics, supporting our 15 sports and 400-plus student-athletes.
From the Carroll Cheer team, the first Champion of Character is
Kolbe Olmes.
Kolbe is currently a senior business major from Benicia, CA. He is a captain of the Carroll Cheer team. Along with being cheer captain he is involved in campus ministry and does discipleship with the FOCUS missionaries. While at Carroll Kolbe has also been involved in lacrosse, intramural volleyball where he has been a two time champion and works at Pioneer Aero structures in Helena. Outside of practice teammates/friends describe him as an encouraging, confident, and hard working person.
The Carroll Dance team's Champion of Character is
Kaitlyn Wenzel
Wenzel is a senior from Helena, Montana, majoring in Communication Studies and Catholic Studies. As an outstanding alum of the Queen City Ballet, Kaitlyn's talent shines on and off the court. This past season, Wenzel was chosen as a captain by her coach and teammates, due to her positivity and dedication to the team. Her kind spirit and ability to foster close relationships with her teammates has proven to be invaluable to the team in the first year of being established. Kaitlyn's journey has been far from easy, however, as she has recently undergone a renal autotransplant surgery due to chronic health issues stemming from a young age. She is determined to be back competing with the team by the spring, showing her unwavering dedication to her teammates.Â
"Wenzel is overall an amazing person and athlete to have on the team in our first year," said Head Coach Faith Edmister. "Kaitlyn gracefully balances a full-time job, dance team, two college degrees, volunteering, while always prioritizing her deep faith. She has made a lasting impact on me and her teammates with her constant optimism and kindness to others. She is the perfect example of a Champion of Character, and we are so glad to have her on our team this season!"
