Missoula, Mont. – Carroll Track & Field closed out the regular season at the Montana Open on Friday and Saturday.
The Saints added several more qualifying marks to an already long list for the spring season.
Claire Bucklin ran a personal record in the 400m Hurdles, hitting the NAIA B Standard and securing a spot in her first National Championship meet. Bucklin also ran her fastest time ever in the 100m Hurdles.
Carson Krack also set a lifetime best in the 400m Hurdles and achieved the B Standard. He is already qualified for Nationals in the Decathlon with the current top mark in the country.
Brycen Gardner won the Frontier Championship in the 3000m Steeplechase, contested within the Montana Open meet. With altitude conversion, he ran his fastest time ever and advanced to the NAIA A Standard.
Oliver Morris will join Gardner as an All-Conference selection, placing 2
nd with a lifetime best that missed the NAIA B Standard by less than a second.
Luke Decker also scored in 6
th Place for the Saints.
For the women,
Erika Arthur ran a personal record in the final 3000m Steeplechase of her career. She placed 4
th of Frontier Conference runners, the only scorer for Carroll in the event for the women.
Carroll had another strong day in the Pole Vault.
Josh Smalley hit his highest jump ever, moving up to the NAIA A Standard.
Brynn Wandle - already qualified for Nationals in the vault - equaled her personal record.
Several other Saints set lifetime bests across the meet. This included
Nikki Nau (1500m),
Wyatt Ehredt (800m),
Ali Cunningham (5000m),
Madalen Shipman (400m), Joe Ceccacci (100m, 200m),
Katelyn Christensen (Javelin, 100m Hurdles),
Hunter Gum (Discus, Shot Put), and
Braedyn Johnson (Triple Jump).
Shipman ran within half a second of the NAIA B Standard in the 400m, moving to 3rd on the Carroll Top 10 List. Ceccacci's strong day placed him onto the All-Time Lists at 3
rd in the 100m and 5
th in the 200m. Gum's Shot Put brings him well within a meter from the National Standard. Christensen's throw was also near the qualifying standard in the Javelin and moved her up a spot to 5
th at Carroll.
"We're building momentum at the right time," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "These athletes are competing hard and getting better every week, and that's what we want going into the Conference Meet at home next week," he added.

The Saints will rest up and sharpen up before competing in the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championships on May 4-5 at Vigilante Stadium in Helena.
