Women's Basketball | 11/20/24 | 9:47 AM
HELENA, Mont. - The No. 9-ranked Carroll Women's Basketball team return the the PE Center this afternoon at 12 p.m. as they host Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in their annual Field Trip Game.
The Fighting Saints (1-3) will look to rebound from a rough weekend in Lewiston, Idaho and get back to their winning ways against the Eagles (2-2) this afternoon.
Carroll will have a distinct home-court advantage for this afternoon's matchup, as 2100 boisterous students from local-area elementary and middle schools descend upon the PE Center for the the annual Champions of Character Field Trip game.
13 different schools will be in attendance, as the NAIA's first-ever national School of Character takes a second to recognize the next generation of leaders. The game is an opportunity for the Carroll Women's Basketball team to interact with the community, as the players and staff have made the rounds throughout each school, speaking on the five core character values the NAIA embraces - Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship. Students from around the area have been selected by their teachers as Champions of Character, and will be recognized at the game.
Carroll's opponent, Embry-Riddle, is one the Saints are relatively familiar with, having played the Eagles twice last season.
The Saints played the Eagles in Arizona last November, coming away with a 61-46 win. The Eagles were then one of three teams who were selected the Carroll pod in the opening rounds of last year's NAIA Women's Basketball Championship. Carroll ran away with an 89-49 win in the first round of the tournament last season at the PE Center.
Season ticket-holders are encouraged to attend today's game, but certain sections will be utilized by different schools. All ticket-holders will be welcomed as usual, but may be asked to sit in a different portion of the reserved seating section than they are accustomed to.
