HELENA, Mont. - Carroll Women's Basketball Head Coach Rachelle Sayers has announced the hiring of Carroll great Maddie Geritz as an Assistant Coach to round out her staff for the 2025-26 season.

One of the winningest players in Carroll College history has officially returned to the sidelines, this time in a new role. Geritz, a Boise, Idaho native, was a valuable member on the court for Fighting Saints from 2018 to 2024 and played a key role in some of the greatest successes in the program's 53-year history. 

"We are so happy about getting Maddie back to Carroll." said Sayers "She bleeds purple and is loyal to the core. She will be a great recruiter for us and with the experience she gained at Montana State and the success they experienced during her tenure, she is going to add so much to our coaching staff. Maddie will be directly involved in recruiting, player development, practice planning, scouting and enhancing our alumni engagement. We couldn't have hired a more quality individual to be a part of the program."

Geritz spent the last two seasons in Bozeman as a Graduate Assistant for Tricia Binford and the Montana State Bobcats Women's Basketball team. While Geritz was on staff, the Cats won the 2025 Big Sky regular season and tournament championship, and became the first team in Big Sky history to reach 30 wins.

During her lengthy playing career at Carroll, Geritz established herself among the best post players in program history. She finished her career at No. 17 in career points (1,217) and has the second-most games played in program history at 154. Her team success is unrivaled by any player to ever don the Purple and Gold, as she was a member of four Frontier Conference Championships, three Frontier Tournament Championships, Five NAIA WBB Championship appearances, nine NAIA WBB Championship wins, and the lone NAIA WBB Semifinal appearance in Carroll history. 

A constant Frontier Conference Academic All-Conference and NAIA Datronics Scholar-Athlete selection, Gertiz was a Second Team All-Frontier selection in 2024 and was named to the NAIA WBB Championship All-Tournament team for her performance in Carroll's best run in program history.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to work for Coach Sayers." said Geritz "Obviously, I got to know her as a player, but to have the opportunity to have her as a boss and someone that I can continue to learn from is super special to me. Carroll and the Helena community mean a lot to me, and I'm just beyond excited to try and give back to this community, and be a part of the great leadership here at Carroll. I'm super grateful to have had the opportunity to go and learn from Coach Binford and her staff the last two years, and couldn't be more excited to get back here at Carroll and get to work."

Beyond her extensive on-court experience, Geritz was also one of the most impactful student-athletes off the court during her playing career. She was the President of the Carroll Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), also serving as the Frontier Conference representative at the national level. As the Frontier rep, Geritz became the first Carroll student-athlete to serve as the NAIA Co-Chair of the Association of Student-Athletes, and was Montana Athletes In Service Award recipient.
