HELENA, Mont. - The No. 11 Carroll College Women's Basketball team are on the road for their final regular season matchup with No. 15 Montana Western this afternoon in Dillon, Mont.

The Fighting Saints (19-5, 10-1) are winners of seven straight games, and hope to make it eight this afternoon over a talented No. 15 Montana Western (21-3, 9-2) team.

Carroll sits at the top of the Frontier Conference standings, with Montana Western just one game behind them. Today's game is an opportunity for the Saints to provide themselves a little breathing room as they continue to chase the top seed at the upcoming Frontier Conference basketball tournament in Great Falls later this month.

The Saints have won each of the previous two matchups between the schools this season, a 72-61 win in Helena in December, and a 72-60 win in Dillon last month. Carroll's big first quarter propelled them to a 15 point halftime lead in the last game, which they were able to protect the rest of the way.

Today's game features both of the Frontier Conference's Preseason Co-Players of the Year, and both have shown that they are deserving of the title. Carroll's Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) and Western's Brynley Fitzgerald have separated themselves from the rest of the conference this season. The pair are 1-2 in the Frontier scoring ranks (Fitzgerald 17.6, Pickens 15.8), and are both in the top five rebounders in the league (Fitzgerald 7.2, Pickens 6.6).

A Carroll win today would give the Saints their sixth-straight 20-win season, and would leave them firmly in control of the Frontier Conference with time dwindling on the season.
