HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College Women's Basketball team will look to bounce-back from a disappointing loss on Saturday afternoon and finish their Arizona swing with a win at Embry-Riddle this afternoon at 2 p.m. in Prescott.

The No. 5 Fighting Saints (1-2) saw their second setback of the young season in a three-point loss at Arizona Christian, and will look to get back on track against the Eagles (0-2) in a Monday matinee.

Carroll played potentially their most complete game of the season on Saturday, but still came up short thanks in large part to a herculean individual effort from Arizona Christian's Lauren Gunn (38 points). The Saints saw significant contributions both offensively and defensively from all five of their starters, with four of the five scoring double digit points.

Head Coach Rachelle Sayers knows what she is doing, and as has been the case in most years, her non-conference schedule is full of games that will test a Saints squad that has high aspirations for the 2023-24 season. The lessons learned from early-season setbacks, such as Saturday, can pay huge dividends for a talented team that will look to play well into March.

Addi Ekstrom (Bozeman, Mont. / JR), coming off of a season-ending knee injury last year, saw her first minutes of the season on Saturday, and will look to continue to be factored into the lineup as she finishes her rehabilitation before being cleared to play full minutes. In limited action this weekend, Eckstrom added six points, and more importantly, a veteran presence at the guard position. Look for Ekstrom's role to continue to grow in the coming weeks.

Jamie Pickens (Helena, Mont. / SR) is off to another great start in 2023, the 2022-23 First Team All-American is averaging a smooth 17.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game, and will look to continue that pace this afternoon in Arizona.

Funnily enough, the two teams share a common opponent in their last game played. The Eagles are 0-2 on the year, with a pair of losses to Arizona Christian (69-55, 74-65).
